On May 8, 2026, the TSH·SPARX GX Fund Seoul Round was held at the Korea Press Center in Seoul. At the heart of the event was the SPARX Sapporo-Hokkaido GX Fund, which invests in Japan’s green transformation (GX) in Hokkaido. SVIF (Sapporo Valley Investment Fund) served as the bridge introducing this fund and its vision to Korean investors and partners.

GX and Hokkaido — Why Now, and Why Hokkaido

GX (Green Transformation) is one of Japan’s central investment themes, driving the shift toward carbon neutrality and clean energy. The stage drawing the most attention for this transition is Hokkaido.

According to Team Sapporo-Hokkaido (TSH), which leads the region’s GX efforts, Hokkaido holds some of the greatest renewable energy potential in Japan and serves as the hub of an initiative to develop Sapporo into a “global financial city for Asia and the world.” A wide range of GX projects — from offshore wind and hydrogen to next-generation semiconductors and data centers — are unfolding here. TSH estimates that, over the next decade, roughly 150 trillion yen in public and private GX investment will flow into Hokkaido and Sapporo.

The TSH·SPARX GX Fund

The SPARX Sapporo-Hokkaido GX Fund — the centerpiece of this Seoul Round — is a GX investment fund jointly driven by Team Sapporo-Hokkaido (TSH), which leads Hokkaido’s GX vision, and SPARX Group, a publicly listed Japanese asset manager. Founded in 1989, SPARX Group is one of Japan’s leading independent asset managers; its founder and chairman, Shuhei Abe, is himself a native of Sapporo.

The fund’s investment focus is on TSH’s eight key GX projects, spanning Hokkaido’s entire GX supply chain centered on offshore wind and hydrogen:

  • Offshore wind-related industries
  • Semiconductors
  • Data centers
  • Hydrogen
  • SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel)
  • Batteries
  • Submarine DC power grid
  • Electricity and hydrogen carriers

Adding renewable energy to these eight projects, the fund targets a total of nine areas, aiming to revitalize the regional economy and contribute to the green transformation of Japan and the world. SVIF focused on faithfully conveying the fund’s strategy and vision to the Korean market.

From Sapporo to Seoul — A Cross-Border IR

The Seoul Round was held at the Korea Press Center in downtown Seoul, bringing together around 100 investors and partners from Korea and abroad. Across several sessions, the GX fund’s investment philosophy and Hokkaido’s GX opportunities were shared, with interpretation provided so that participants from both Korea and Japan could engage in discussion without a language barrier.

A Partnership Across Borders

SVIF’s core strength lies in connecting Japan, Korea, Singapore, and the Middle East (MENA) into a single investment network. The TSH·SPARX GX Fund became an occasion to discuss a framework for long-term collaboration where Japan’s stable asset-management capabilities meet Korea’s dynamic capital. SVIF aims to grow such collaboration not as a one-off transaction, but as the foundation of a lasting partnership.

Building a Network on Trust

After the official sessions, a networking dinner followed. Conversations that had not finished in the presentation hall continued in a more relaxed atmosphere — a valuable time for building trust across borders.

Toward the Next Round

Building on the success of the Seoul Round, SVIF plans to keep expanding cross-border investment opportunities centered on the TSH·SPARX GX Fund. Starting with Japan and Korea, we will broaden our investment network step by step, reaching toward Singapore and the Middle East.
